WordPress websites are the most hacked websites and WooCommerce is a plugin built on it. Make sure to choose a good admin password. Keep your WordPress updated and the WooCommerce plugin – and any other WordPress plugins you have installed – updated as well. Make sure to get backups before you update though, as sometimes it can break your website functions due to WordPress – plugins compatibility issues. Also, make sure to add SSL to your server for security of data passed to your server. If you want to avoid having to use plugins, you can check out website builders with e-commerce built-in. I think the best one is UltimateWB because while having lots of built-in features that are very customizable, it is easy to use, and also allows you to choose your web hosting like WordPress does. E-commerce website builders like Shopify and Volusion do not – you have to host with them.
Got a techy/website question? Whether it’s about UltimateWB or another website builder, web hosting, or other aspects of websites, just send in your question in the “Ask David!” form. We will email you when the answer is posted on the UltimateWB “Ask David!” section.
