As you may know, WordPress does not include meta descriptions by default – even though it is very much valued in SEO rankings by top search engines like Google. We decided to change that. As part of our ongoing commitment to providing powerful tools and features, we are adding the feature of blog post meta descriptions for your UltimateWB integrated WordPress blog. This is in addition to the meta description that you can manually set for your blog homepage, via your UltimateWB website admin panel. And best of all, no third party SEO plugins are necessary for any of it!
Why Meta Descriptions?
Meta descriptions play a crucial role in search engine optimization. They provide a concise summary of your content and can significantly impact your website’s click-through rate from search engine results pages (SERPs).
How It Works:
There are 2 ways:
- Automatic: We’ve implemented a smart algorithm that identifies the last period (full stop) within the initial 160 characters. The meta description is adjusted accordingly to include the complete sentence, ensuring a polished and readable snippet.
- Manual: Optionally, you can enter your own meta description for each of your blog posts, on the Add Post and Edit Post pages, below where you enter your post content. There is a character count included too, so that you can aim for the 160 characters that is recommended for a meta description.
If you have entered a Manual meta description for your blog post, that will be used. Otherwise, the Automatic meta description will be used.
How to Leverage This Feature:
When you update to UltimateWB 8, this feature is included. Login to your website admin panel, go to Pages > Edit Page, Blog. On this page, click on the “Update Blog” link to update your blog files to the newest UltimateWB integration.
At UltimateWB, we’re dedicated to empowering your online presence, and this update is just one of the many ways we strive to enhance your experience.
Stay tuned for more exciting features and updates!
Happy Blogging!
